Editorial Policy
Built on veterinary evidence and real owner experience. Every source and responsibility is disclosed.

Editorial Mission
The PETTAS Blog exists to give pet owners practical, decision-ready information for today and tomorrow. We ground our writing in veterinary evidence, public-agency guidance, and primary industry sources — then translate it through the lens of actual owner experience. Our goal is to pair technical accuracy with reader actionability.
Six Editorial Principles
- Primary sources first — Whenever possible we cite veterinary guidelines, peer-reviewed literature, and public-agency publications. We avoid personal blogs and second-hand summaries.
- YMYL topics handled with care — For health, medical, and financial topics we always state 'consult your vet for treatment decisions' and avoid framing that pushes readers toward self-diagnosis.
- Translated for local reality — We do not simply transplant overseas data. Content is reinterpreted for Japan's climate, regulations, insurance system, and veterinary norms.
- Commercial independence — The presence or absence of an affiliate link never changes editorial judgment. Any monetized link is clearly disclosed.
- Responsibility to update — When guidelines or product specs change, we revisit the article and update the 'last modified' date. No stale evergreen left unchecked.
- Prompt corrections — If readers point out an error, we correct the article promptly and log the correction visibly within the article.
Primary Sources
We prioritize the following primary sources, public agencies, and academic references when producing articles:
- Japan Veterinary Medical Association and regional VMA guidelines
- Japan's MAFF and MHLW notices on animal pharmaceuticals and rabies control
- WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) vaccination guidelines
- AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners) feline care guidelines
- AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) dog and cat care recommendations
- ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center toxin information
- Peer-reviewed literature indexed on PubMed and J-STAGE
- Claim procedure materials published by major Japanese pet insurers
Review & Authorship
Articles are written and edited by the PETTAS Editorial Team. For topics requiring veterinary judgment, we verify consistency with primary sources before publication and remove any unsupported statements. For significant veterinary, pharmaceutical, or insurance-related decisions, every article explicitly directs readers to consult their veterinarian or insurer. The editorial team is not composed of licensed physicians or veterinarians and does not provide information intended to substitute for diagnosis or treatment.
Corrections Policy
When readers flag factual errors, outdated data, or interpretive mistakes, we verify and typically correct the article within 7 days. Corrections are logged at the top or bottom of the article for transparency. Send corrections to support@pettas.tech or via SNS DM.
Disclaimer
This blog provides general pet care information and is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment plans for individual pets. Always consult your veterinarian before changing diet, medication, or treatment plans. Products and services mentioned reflect information at the time of writing; specifications, pricing, and availability may change. Verify the latest details on official sources before purchasing or contracting.
Affiliate & Advertising Policy
PETTAS participates in affiliate programs including the Amazon Associates program (tag: pettas-22). We may earn commissions from qualifying purchases, but our editorial principles ensure commissions never compromise the neutrality of the article. Articles or sections containing affiliate links are clearly labeled with '#PR' or 'contains affiliate links.'
